After Hours
When the office is closed, you may call our answering service at Southern Maryland Hospital Center at (301) 868-8000 to have us paged. There will be occasions when other physicians within the Family Medical Centers will be on call. Please only call for situations which require immediate attention.
Referrals to Specialists
Our primary care doctor will coordinate any referral you may need with a medical specialist. We will strive to work within the scope of your insurance plan and refer you to a specialist who also participates in that plan.
Please do not make an appointment with a specialist until you have received a referral form...it cannot be generated after your appointment with the specialist. Failure to properly obtain a signed referral form will cause you to be responsible for payment.
Test Results
All lab/test results are reviewed by our doctors. Our office will then contact you with the results and indicate any further course of action.
Please note that the normal turnaround time for test results to arrive at our office is two to five days. If you have not been contacted about your test results within five business days, please contact our office. Don't assume your results were "normal" until you've heard from our staff.
Medical Insurance
Please familiarize yourself with your insurance requirements and coverage allowances, and bring your insurance card with you to each appointment. Our staff is happy to do "the paperwork" for covered expenses of your plan.
We participate and accept assignment of benefits in a variety of insurance plans. Any deductibles or non-covered charges may be paid by cash, personal check, or credit card at the time of your visit.
If you have any questions regarding our services or fees, you are welcome to discuss them with us. Should unusual circumstances require special arrangements for payment of your bill, please bring this to our attention. Our billing office number is (301) 856-3497.
Medical Records and Forms
We do not release copies of your medical records to anyone without your written permission. If you require a copy of your own medical records, we will need your request in writing. Legally, we may only release records generated by this office.
Also, we do charge a fee for the completion of various forms and applications (i.e. life insurance forms, disability claims, FMLA, etc.) Our fee for this service depends upon the complexity of the request, and will be quoted to you in advance by our staff.
No Show Fee
A fee will be assessed to any patient that does not cancel their appointment within 24 hours prior to appointment time. (Except Medicaid patients)
